Tron 3: Ares has a filming date and a director

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil director Joachim Rønning is in talks with Walt Disney to direct Tron 3: Ares.

Indeed, Deadline reports that director Joachim Rønning is about to sign on to direct the third installment in the Tron saga. Entitled Tron : Aresthe film will follow Tron : Legacy (2010) and will begin production in August in Vancouver.

Jared Leto will play the main character named Ares. For now, we do not know if Garrett Hedlund, Jeff Bridges et Olive Wilde will reprise the roles of Sam Flynn, Clu and Quorra.

Released in 1982, Tron stage Jeff Bridges as Kevin Flynn, a computer programmer and video game developer who is transported to the software world of a mainframe computer where he interacts with programs in his attempt to escape. In the second installment, Tron : Legacy (2010), whose soundtrack was composed by Daft PunkSam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund) goes in search of his father more than twenty years after his disappearance.
