The fight is far from over. Also in The Witcher Season 3, it will be exciting again. You can read what could happen in the new episodes with us.
The fantasy series The Witcher hit Netflix like a bomb at its premiere: viewers seem to be following the adventures of the witcher Geralt von Rivia (Henry Cavill) with great enthusiasm, as the series was voted the most popular of 2019. While fans are currently rushing to The Witcher Season 2, let’s look to the future and speculate what will happen in Season 3 of the fantasy series and when it will continue.
When Does The Witcher Season 3 Start On Netflix?
If the audience could decide, the third season of “The Witcher” would probably have started on Netflix long ago. But since you can’t have everything in life – and the new episodes have yet to be filmed – it may be some time before we can binge Season 3.
Almost two years passed between the first two seasons due to the Corona crisis, but it can be assumed that season 3 will start sooner. The latest season may then appear as early as December 2022. After all, filming began in early April. Via the official Instagram account, fans were told that production had started. Until fans can see the new episodes, they have to be patient.
The Witcher Season 3: MCU Star Part of The Cast
With Kim Bodnia (“Killing Eve”), the Netflix series has already cast an exciting newcomer for the second season of The Witcher, in the third season there will be even more growth that fans can look forward to:
- After her debut in Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings, Meng’er Zhang descends into the magical world of The Witcher. In the new episodes, she will be seen as a dangerous opponent Milva. She owes her hunting skills to the Dryads of the Brokilon Forest who adopted her.
- Upload star Robbie Amell was previously known primarily for teen comedies, sci-fi action, and most recently “Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City”. In The Witcher season 3, he embodies Gallatin, the leader of a guerrilla army that has aligned itself with Nilfgaard. Whether the talented fighter will face Geralt remains to be seen. Primarily, he fights against Francesca for power.
- Hugh Skinner played the main character’s whiny ex-boyfriend in Fleabag, but he plays a completely different role in The Witcher. Prince Radovid is King Vizimir’s younger brother and in his spare time, he enjoys getting drunk and using his wit to meddle in political affairs. Not bad at all as a member of the Redanian secret service.
- Little is known about Christelle Elwin, who plays Mistle in the new season of The Witcher. She is a young woman from a poor background who, together with a group of teenagers, the rat gang, robs the rich. The tough shell is only overshadowed by her desire for revenge, but a fateful encounter changes everything.
The Witcher Season 3: This Is How It Will Continue
The end of the second season of “The Witcher” already left plenty of room for speculation, thanks to the announcement via Instagram there is now even an official plot:
“As monarchs, mages, and beasts of the continent vie for her, Geralt hides Ciri of Cintra and is determined to protect his reunited family from those who threaten to destroy them. Yennefer, who has been entrusted with Ciri’s magical training, leads her to the sheltered fortress of Aretuza, where she hopes to learn more about the girl’s untapped powers; instead, they discover they have landed on a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and betrayal. You have to fight back, risk everything – or risk losing each other forever.”

The Hunt For Ciri Is On
In the finale of the second season, it seems that everyone really has their eye on Ciri (Freya Allan). The Brotherhood made up of Tissaia (MyAnna Buring), King Foltest (Shaun Dooley), and other influential figures, places a bounty on the young princess and everyone who protects her.
The elves also want to find Cirilla. After learning that the young princess has Elder blood, they believe that Ithlinne’s prophecy refers to Ciri. In episode 5 of the second season, Triss (Anna Shaffer) had already guessed that Ciri is the “seed that bursts into flames” and will therefore destroy everyone. Maybe the elves want to find Ciri and use her as a weapon to rule over the humans.
Another person linked to Cirilla by blood also wants to track her down: her father, Emhyr (Bart Edwards). As it turns out, not only is he still alive, he’s the Emperor of Nilfgaard and wants his daughter. It is not yet known what he intends to do with her, but she may not be sure with him.
Ciri’s Education Continues
Even if Geralt does not know exactly who is after his foster daughter, the witcher is aware that they are not sure. This is why he decides to leave Kaer Morhen at the end of Season 2. However, he and Ciri are not alone on their journey. Although he no longer trusts Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) after her betrayal, he wants her to continue teaching Cirilla magic. After all, she was the only one who could teach the girl how to tame her powers. Since Yen herself has her skills back, she may be able to do even better.
They have to prepare Ciri properly for what is ahead of them, after all, there is a high probability of a fight with the greatest opponents in the entire “Witcher” universe in season 3 because the Wild Hunt is on the rise.
The eponymous sorcerer can continue to pursue his monster hunt. During the Lucca Comics & Games festival in Italy, Lauren Schmidt Hissrich revealed that the writers are already working on the third season and it will feature lots of action, death, and monsters (from ComicBook.com).
The Witcher Future Plans: Showrunner Dreams Of Long-Lasting Series
As Lauren Schmidt Hissrich revealed in an interview with SFX magazine in November 2019, she has already worked on seven seasons of the series. This planning was particularly important to her since she attaches great importance to the lengthy development of the characters. In an interview with Collider, she also stated that she could even imagine 20 seasons. The world and many characters offer countless stories and Hissrich would continue to write this series for as long as it makes sense. Andrzej Sapkowski, who wrote The Witcher books, also wants to see more sequels to the series.
The Witcher Franchise Is Expanding
The spin-off The Witcher: Blood Origin goes even further back than the previously released animated film The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf. It tells about the creation of the first witcher 1200 years before Geralt. However, the series doesn’t necessarily focus on a witch, instead introducing fans to Scían (Michelle Yeoh) and other new characters.
Netflix is also planning an animated film about which nothing is known at this time (via Instagram). But the little adventurers are also taken into account. An extra series will be created for them, which will be especially a child- and family-friendly. It is not yet known whether this will be a live-action project or an animation and when it will appear. However, one thing is clear: The magical world of the continent remains exciting.
