Production
The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, written by Tom Gormican and Kevin Etten, was bought by Lionsgate on November 15, 2019, with Gormican directing and Etten producing alongside Kevin Turen, Nicolas Cage, and Mike Nilon through Saturn Films. Cage will portray a fictionalized version of himself in the film. Pedro Pascal was in discussions to portray Javi, a Nic Cage superfan who isn’t who he appears to be, in August 2020. Sharon Horgan and Tiffany Haddish joined the cast of the film in September 2020, followed by Lily Sheen in October. Neil Patrick Harris will join the cast of the picture in November 2020.
Principal filming was planned to commence in the autumn of 2020, officially starting on October 5 in locations around Croatia, including the city of Dubrovnik.
