Chris McKay directed The Tomorrow War, a 2021 American military science fiction action film. David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger, David S. Goyer, Jules Daly, and Adam Kolbrenner produced the film, which was written by Zach Dean. Chris Pratt, Yvonne Strahovski, J. K. Simmons, Betty Gilpin, Sam Richardson, Edwin Hodge, Jasmine Mathews, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, and Keith Powers are among the ensemble cast members. It follows a group of soldiers and citizens from the current day who are transported into the future to combat an extraterrestrial force.
The film’s distribution rights were purchased by Amazon owing to the COVID-19 epidemic, and it was digitally distributed on July 2, 2021, via Prime Video. The film is one of the most costly films ever created, with a budget of $200 million. Critics gave The Tomorrow War mixed reviews, with acclaim for the premise, action sequences, and performances (especially Pratt and Richardson), but criticism for its clumsy execution. A sequel is in the works.
