The Sandman: the bonus episode is much more important than you think
On August 5, 2022, the 10 episodes of The Sandman were made available on Netflix. The streaming service shocked all of its viewers on the 19th of the month by releasing an eleventh extra episode. Without a doubt, even if it differs from the rest of season 1, it is far more significant than you may imagine for the continuation of Morpheus’ adventures!
THE SANDMAN , A BONUS EPISODE THAT SAYS A LOT ABOUT THE SEQUEL
Neil Gaiman’s graphic books have been adapted into the series The Sandman. The first 10 episodes of this fantastic drama between the realm of dreams and the waking world, which debuted on August 5, 2022 on Netflix, were meant to introduce the universe as well as the characters. Morpheus, the ruler of dreams and nightmares, and the effects of his confinement are at the center of the narrative. Naturally, he attracts a lot of personalities, not all of whom have good motives…
If John Dee plans to use the Dream Ruby to change the world because he believes that the truth is always good to reveal, he might cause a lot of harm. The brothers and sisters of Morpheus, Desire and Despair, are still planning their retaliation against him even though they are not yet aware of their motivations. It would be impossible to forget about the Corinthian, a nightmare that Dream created and was motivated by the desire to eat the eyeballs of its human victims in the actual world.
The Sandman’s Episode 10 wraps up rather effectively. Naturally, it leaves the possibility of a sequel and a meeting between Lucifer and Morpheus open, should Rêve be successful in obtaining his mask from the Underworld. Netflix startled all of its members on August 19, 2022, by releasing a surprise eleventh episode. It is followed by Calliope and A Dream of a Thousand Cats, two separate tales from the comics. The episode’s opening segment covers the exploits of domestic cats. They seek for an informed cat who is keen to communicate with them.
THE MESSAGES TO DECIPHER FROM THE BONUS EPISODE OF THE SANDMAN
She goes off in quest of the Cat King after having her kittens taken away by their human guardians in order to learn why a cat could never be free if it lived among humans. He was told by the latter that cats formerly ruled people, playing with them, chasing them, and eating them. These frightened cats are given voices by Neil Gaiman, Sandra Oh, David Tennant, James McAvoy, and Michael Sheen. The narrative may stand alone from the rest of the series, but it nonetheless serves as a reminder of how prevalent the dream is—even among animals. This implies that Morpheus changes his shape depending on how the dreamers see him; a parallel that will need to be kept in mind for The Sandman season 2 if it happens.
For the remainder of the series, the second portion of the bonus episode is much more crucial. She introduces us to Calliope, another significant comic book character. Years of this muse’s captivity were kept by a writer by the name of Erasmus Fry (Derek Jacobi). After that, Richard Madoc (Arthur Darville), a poor author, becomes the new owner of Calliope. He continues to abuse the goddess until Dream arrives to persuade Madoc to free her. Because he was formerly married to Calliope and even fathered her kid, Rêve may be able to assist him.
The follow-up to The Sandman should inform us that their son, Orpheus, died as a result of going to hell to save his love, Eurydice. After the death of their child, Calliope never fully recovered from this terrible occurrence and chose to leave Morpheus. There is no question that this series’ protagonist will appear in the upcoming episodes on Netflix. She asked him in the bonus episode whether he would allow her to see him at his palace as evidence, and he said yes. He said yes, but added that he needed more time before seeing the person who gave him such a palpable rush.
