Ozark Season 5: Will the Netflix Series Continue?
In Ozark, Jason Bateman plays a money launderer who wants to get out of the criminal milieu. So, will Ozark Season 5 come out?
Marty Byrde (Jason Bateman) is a self-employed financial consultant who hires himself out as a money launderer for a Mexican drug lord. But a conflict strains the criminal business relationship so that the husband and father are forced to flee to a remote holiday resort with his wife Wendy (Laura Linney) and their children. The family travels from Chicago to the Ozark plateau in southern Missouri. But to settle the debt, the financial expert is to fulfill one last assignment for his soon-to-be ex-business partner – he is to launder 500 million US dollars within five years. We’ll tell you here whether the dropout will succeed in this mammoth task or whether he will continue to get stuck in the criminal underground in Season 5.
Is Ozark Season 5 Coming?
Anyone who would like to be dragged further into the money laundering and drug swamp with the struggling and desperate family will probably be a bit disappointed – because Ozark ends with the fourth season. To announce the fourth season, Netflix announced that there will be no fifth season. Since this message reached the inclined fans in June 2020, it can at least be assumed that the series will find a worthy conclusion without a cliffhanger.
Ozark Season 5: Between Family Drama and Provincial Thriller
What makes Ozark so special is the skillful switching between genres. The rousing series skilfully spans a crime thriller framework around the inner-family drama that Marty Byrde triggers with his criminal machinations. Dull provincial everyday life is masterfully broken with thriller elements, a depressing family portrait, and a well-founded character study embedded in the crime story as a matter of course. In the best Breaking Bad manner, the protagonist stumbles from one problem to the next: if a matter seems to have been resolved, two new complications immediately arise. An impenetrable vicious circle that doesn’t let his characters come to rest. This fateful farce is carried by the grandiosely acting Bateman and Linney, who take the mental and physical rollercoaster ride from the start. Will the Byrdes find a way out? Find out on Netflix.
