I Know What You Did Last Summer is a planned American adolescent horror television series based on Lois Duncan’s 1973 novel of the same name, which will debut on Amazon Prime Video. Michael Clear, Erik Feig, Sara Goodman, Rob Hackett, Shay Hatten, Craig William Macneill, Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, and James Wan executive produce the show, which stars Madison Iseman, Brianne Tju, Ezekiel Goodman, Ashley Moore, Sebastian Amoruso, Fiona Rene, Cassie Beck, Brooke Bloom, and Bill Heck. It is a modernized version of the 1973 novel and 1997 picture, and it depicts a group of friends who are pursued by a vicious killer one year after covering up a car accident in which they murdered a man.
In July 2019, Amazon Studios purchased the franchise rights to create a television series adaption, with Moritz and Wan producing. The series has been ordered by Amazon for 2020, with Craig Macneill directing the pilot episode written by Sara Goodman. The series is set to premiere on October 15, 2021.

Production
On July 26, 2019, Amazon Studios announced the development of a television series based on Lois Duncan’s 1973 novel I Know What You Did Last Summer, with Neal H. Moritz and Pavun Shetty of Original Film acting as executive producers, James Wan directing, and Shay Hatten writing the pilot. On October 14, 2020, Amazon ordered the project to series, and Sara Goodman was revealed as the series’ new writer, replacing Hatten. It was also revealed that Goodman and Hatten will serve as executive producers on the series, with Original Film’s Erik Feig and Atomic Monster’s Rob Hackett, Michael Clear, and Wan.
Craig William Macneill was confirmed as the pilot’s director and executive producer on December 9, 2020.
Casting
Madison Iseman, Brianne Tju, Ezekiel Goodman, Ashley Moore, Sebastian Amoruso, Fiona Rene, Cassie Beck, Brooke Bloom, and Bill Heck were cast in the lead roles on January 11, 2021. Sonya Balmores was cast in a recurring role on January 28, 2021. Spencer Sutherland joined the roster as a recurring character on February 19, 2021. Chrissie Fit was cast in a recurring role on March 22, 2021.
Filming
On January 25, 2021, the series began production on Oahu.
Release
The series will start on Amazon Prime Video on October 15, 2021, with the first four episodes available immediately and the remaining episodes arriving regularly.
