Guardians of the Galaxy: James Gunn puts an end to this Baby Groot debate
Is the Baby Groot who took his position in the follow-up to their exploits the same as the adult Groot we originally encountered in the 2014 film Guardians of the Galaxy? Fans have been wondering this for a while, and it has just come up again with the debut of the Disney+ series starring the character. You’re in luck today because James Gunn, the franchise’s director, has officially put an end to the discussion!
WHO IS BABY GROOT REALLY?
James Gunn, the director of Guardians of the Galaxy, is a master at answering questions from Marvel fans. He recently opened up about how this cult figure’s sex changed in volume three of his trilogy and the reason why he only translated Groot’s lines to some MCU actors. He put a stop to the Baby Groot discussion this past weekend. In fact, the viewers’ interest in the character’s genesis has been rekindled by the August 10 premiere of the television series I Am Groot, which is composed of short films. Is he or is he not the same hero as the original Groot?
He does not (in the same way I don’t remember what my father did – OG Groot is not his “self”). But I’m sure he’s been told the heroic stories thousands of times by his galactic parents. #IamGroot https://t.co/ho4OAMlJDJ

@Spidey101597: After watching the My Name is Groot shorts , I’m curious how does this new Groot’s memory work? He clearly remembers the sacrifice of his eldest, as indicated in one of the episodes. I’m just curious.
James Gunn: He doesn’t remember (the same way I don’t remember what my father did – the great Groot is not his “me”). But I’m sure his galactic parents told him thousands of times about his heroic adventures.
Later on in the post, he reveals that Baby Groot is “Despite not having the memories of the original Groot, the offspring of Groot, learns his narrative in the same way that you did. Your mother talks to you about your late father “. Baby Groot, created from a portion of Groot, is a completely original and distinctive entity.
The persona of Groot, who gave his life to save his buddies and is hence undeniably dead (apart from in our hearts). Her “kid” was conceived as a result of a bit of her body that Rocket kept and put in a pot. There is no doubt that the juvenile extraterrestrial, who matures throughout the MCU films, is not a Groot clone.
