The upcoming American fantasy action-adventure comedy film Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, co-written and directed by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, is based on the Dungeons & Dragons tabletop role-playing game.
The Forgotten Realms campaign setting serves as the backdrop for the movie. The movie is unrelated to the trilogy published between 2000 and 2012. Hugh Grant, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis, and Chris Pine are all featured in the movie.
The American theatrical debut of Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is set for March 3, 2023, thanks to Paramount Pictures.

Casting
Ansel Elgort was in negotiations to play the lead role in Letterman’s version of the movie on June 27, 2016. Chris Pine was chosen to star in the movie in December 2020. In February 2021, Michelle Rodriguez, Justice Smith, and Regé-Jean Page were added. Hugh Grant and Sophia Lillis would start in April, with Grant playing the villain. Chloe Coleman joined the ensemble cast in April. Daisy Head and Jason Wong joined the cast in May. It was announced that the cast of the Dungeons & Dragons web series Critical Role would make cameo appearances in the movie during a panel at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2022.
Filming
Early in April 2021, a crew of 60–70 people in Iceland started filming. Later that month, principal photography began in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Daley announced the end of filming on August 19, 2021.
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (2023) Release
The original release date for the movie was July 23, 2021. The release date was then shifted to May 27, 2022, because of COVID-19, and then again to November 19, 2021, to make room for the release of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. The release date was further postponed to March 3, 2023, in April 2021. The movie’s official title was revealed to be Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves on April 21, 2022.

Marketing
Honor Among Thieves was highlighted at the San Diego Comic-Con 2022 in July. This featured a panel with the cast and crew and a “Tavern Experience.” Characters from the movie would be featured in the “Tavern Experience.”
On July 21, 2022—the day of the movie’s SDCC panel—a teaser trailer was made available.
