Death on the Nile is a forthcoming mystery thriller film directed by Kenneth Branagh and written by Michael Green. It is based on Agatha Christie’s 1937 novel of the same name. Branagh returns as Hercule Poirot in the sequel to 2017’s Murder on the Orient Express, which is produced by Branagh, Ridley Scott, Simon Kinberg, Judy Hofflund, Mark Gordon, and Kevin J. Walsh. The film also stars Tom Bateman (who also returns from the first film), Annette Bening, Russell Brand, Ali Fazal, Dawn French, Gal Gadot, Armie Hammer, Rose Leslie, Emma Mackey, and Sophie Okonedo, Jennifer Saunders, and Letitia Wright.
Following the 1978 film and an episode of the television series Agatha Christie’s Poirot that aired in 2004, this is the third movie adaptation of Christie’s novel.
Principal photography began in September 2019 and ended in December, with filming taking place at Longcross Studios in England and on location in Morocco.
The movie will be released in theaters on February 11, 2022, by 20th Century Studios. Since its intended release date of October 2020, it has been postponed numerous times owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.
