Chris Rock is an American actor.
His mother was a social worker named Rose and his father a trucker named Julius Rock.
In his early childhood, Chris Rock left his home state of South Carolina to move with his family to Brooklyn, New York.

 

His talent for humor was publicly manifested in the mid-1980s, when Chris began performing his comic sketches on the New York local chain Catch a Rising Star.
One of his performances was watched by Eddie Murphy , who made him debut in the cinema with “Superdetective In Hollywood II” (1987).

In 1990, Rock achieved fame in his country by participating in the television program “Saturday Night Live”, in which he was until 1993.

 

In 1996 he married Malaak Compton (born 1969), with whom he has had two daughters named Lola and Zahra.
The couple decided to separate in 2014.

After “Superdetective in Hollywood II”, Chris Rock appeared as a secondary in “New Jack City” (1991), directed by Mario Van Peebles, in “Boomerang” (1992), again accompanying Murphy, and in “Sergeant Bilko” (1996), comedy starring Steve Martin .

With more prominent roles, Chris has been seen alongside Mel Gibson and Danny Glover in “Lethal Weapon 4” (1998), in Kevin Smith’s “Dogma” (1999) , in “Chasing Betty” (2000) , film with Renée Zellweger , or in “Zohan – License To Comb” (2008) , comedy starring Adam Sandler .
Also in film, Rock made his directorial debut with the feature film “De Incompetente a Presidente” (2003).
Later he directed “I Think I Want My Woman” (2007) and “Top Five” (2014).

 

Apart from his physical presence, Chris Rock’s skill in the voices has led him to participate in various projects, including “Doctor Dolittle” (1998) , “Osmosis Jones” (2001), “Bee Movie” (2007) and the films of “Madagascar” (2005-2008) .

He has won two Emmy Awards.
One for “Chris Rock: Bring The Pain” (1996) and another thanks to his own television program, “The Chris Rock Show”, broadcast between 1997 and 2000.

In the black comedy “Un Funeral De Muerte” (2010) he shared credits with Martin Lawrence .
The film was a remake of a British title directed by Frank Oz.
In the comedy “Big Boys” (2010) he intervened again with Adam Sandler, one of his best friends in Hollywood.
His wife in this film was Maya Rudolph.
In “2 Days In New York” (2012) he was a couple with the French Julie Delpy .

He shared credits with Eddie Murphy again in “Yo Soy Dolomite” (2019).
In 2020, he joined the fourth season of the television series “Fargo” .
A year later he starred, playing a policeman, in the ninth installment of the series “Saw”, entitled “Spiral: Saw” (2021) .

 

After divorcing Malaak Compton, Chris Rock began a relationship with actress Megalyn Echikunwoke (1983), almost twenty years younger than the actor.
